Red to work with v and NYA
Red has recently been asked to assist v, the new national youth volunteering charity, with its thinking on the implementation of its national programme. Red’s Jamie Thomas and Georgina Watts will facilitate a series of round table discussions to be attended by a cross section of representatives from the voluntary sector, employers and young people, to examine options to take forward key aspects of the programme as recommended in the Russell Commission report made in 2005.
The events are being organised for v by the National Youth Agency (NYA). Red and the NYA will work with v to analyse feedback to enable v to decide on the shape and future direction of the programme.
Red’s director, Jamie Thomas, who was head of the secretariat at the Russell Commission, is delighted to be involved. ‘Both Georgina and I were closely involved in the Russell Commission so it’s great to be invited to work on this. v is a big and ambitious initiative with a huge amount of potential, so we’re looking forward to working with both v and the NYA to help the programme take its plans forward.
