Georgina Watts

Georgina started her career as an advice worker and then advice centre manager and went on to become a student welfare and volunteering manager. Then, as chief executive, she led Youth Action Network, as it became one of England?s leading youth volunteering charities, supporting voluntary groups that engage young people in youth action volunteering. Most notably, she led the organisation as it became a respected player in the national volunteering sector, establishing influential relationships within Government and the wider sector. Georgina lead the organisation as it increased its membership and was successful in raising substantial funds from the Home Office, DfES and Community Fund.

Georgina played an active role in the Government?s Russell Commission review of youth volunteering. She was both an independent adviser and researcher and co-ordinated much of the consultation with professionals and young people within the youth volunteering sector. Following on from this work, Georgina is a Commissioner on 'the Commission on the future of volunteering'. She is also a serving trustee of Volunteering England, the country?s foremost volunteering development agency.

Since leaving the Youth Action Network, Georgina has been a consultant working with charities and community organisations of all sizes on issues such as staff motivation, fundraising, strategic development and youth involvement, until joining the Red Foundation in September 2006. Georgina is also a professional coach and sees several clients regularly coaching them to be more effective, creative and confident.
